About Mrs. Haley Sinn
My name is Haley Sinn and I was born in raised in Bloomington and attended North's rival, Bloomington High School South, as a student. I've always loved art and was encouraged by my teachers throughout my education to keep perfecting my craft. Perhaps the most influential teacher I had was my French teacher, Mrs. Holmes, who despite my lack of foreign language abilities, allowed me to illustrate all of my worksheets. With the support from all of my teachers, I went on to pursue Art Education in my higher education.
It was always a dream of mine after finishing receiving my P-12 Visual Arts Education degree from Indiana University to work for one of the high schools in my home town. It was important for me to feel as though I was giving back to my community. Each day I open up my classroom door so that I might be able to help students see the potential they have within themselves and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to teach at Bloomington High School North. |
While my talents lie in painting and drawing, I use that to my students' advantage by combining a variety of art mediums into the digital realm to give them a more rich and complex encounter with digital photography. However, the class isn't limited to creatives or artists, but is open to anyone who has a desire to capture a fleeting moment with a camera so that image may last for a lifetime.
Beautifully written by Destin Sparks are the words, "A photograph is the story I fail to put into words," and this is the lesson my students will ultimately learn.
